Doctor Who news: guess what villain will be back this season?

For those of you who need something to fill the emptiness that Doctor Who's hiatus has left in your hears, io9.com has just released some seriously spoiler-rific photos from the New York City set where Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill are filming part of the seventh season. Many of the pictures, like the one above, simply show the Doctor, Amy and Rory being their charming selves, but one set of images teases the return of one of the series' all-time great villains, whose identity will be revealed after the jump for those of you who want to go into the season with your minds untouched by any prior knowledge.
Yes, friends, the Weeping Angels are back! (You thought I was going to say the Daleks, didn't you? Well, I didn't, because the Daleks are not nearly as awesome.) A while back I named the Angels the second scariest Doctor Who baddie of all time, and while I still stand by the decision to put the Silence at the top of the list, I am all sorts of excited about this development.

Go check out io9's bonanza of on-set photos, which, in addition to pictures of the Angels, includes a gallery of assorted shots of the characters, sets, and some spiffy 1960s-style costumes; some shots of what appears to be Amy and Rory fighting; and a gallery of yet more angels pictures, as well as some pics of the Doctor and Amy running. Because it just wouldn't be Doctor Who without the running.

And if you haven't seen it yet, go check out the trailer for the new season.
